Restore Volume to Aging Skin with Dermal Fillers
When we age, our lips and skin lose volume and become prone to wrinkles and folds. Dermal fillers can restore this volume by injecting naturally-occurring substances beneath the skin, giving you a natural, youthful appearance. Fillers and other similar injections are most commonly used to treat wrinkles, lines, folds, and acne scarring. Rediscover youthful skin and beautiful full lips today!
How Fillers Work
The vast majority of dermal fillers and lip injections use hyaluronic acid as their main active ingredient. This compound is naturally found in the skin, and plays a crucial role in the skin’s healing process. Restylane® and Juvederm® are two examples of NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid)-based fillers that make use of the acid’s hydrophilic (or “water-loving”) binding properties to provide lasting results and keep volumizing moisture in the target areas.
Collagen-based fillers like CosmoDerm™, CosmoPlast®, Zyderm®, and Zyplast® use this natural protein polymer to add volume and restore skin’s youthful appearance. Poly-L-Lactic Acid fillers, meanwhile, are derived fruit acids, and are fully biocompatible and biodegradable substances that stimulate the body to produce more collagen on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are dermal fillers safe?
Yes! Dermal fillers are safe when administered by a trained physician. Depending on the type of filler being used, an allergy test may be required. However, using fully biocompatible filler makes this unnecessary. The most common adverse effects reported are temporary redness and minor swelling at the injection site. These typically resolve within two to three days.
Are dermal fillers suitable for lip injections?
Dermal fillers are extremely versatile, but are most commonly used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles as part of facial rejuvenation. That includes use in and around the lips. Ask your cosmetic provider for more information on how dermal fillers can be used to restore thin lips.
How are dermal fillers different than Botox® and Dysport®?
While they produce similar effects, dermal fillers are natural cosmetic products that are injected into target areas to increase volume. Botox® and Dysport® are drugs that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes underlying muscles, which has the added effect of reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Many patients use one, the other, or both treatments to achieve very similar results.
How long do results last?
It depends on where the product is injected! Injections in the cheeks could last between 12 and 18 months. Injections that target dynamic wrinkling (like frown lines) can last up to a year. In some locations, the filler will breakdown with every expression, but combining fillers with neuromodulator treatment can increase the filler’s longevity. We check in with clients at the six-month mark to see if any touch-ups are required. After that, your appointments are usually 12 to 18 months apart!
On average, results last around six months to a year, though it’s not uncommon for you to see results well beyond that timeframe. It depends on how long it takes for the injected material to dissipate. We typically schedule treatments for patients every six months, though touch-ups are quite common as well.
